PURPOSE: A method and a device for multiplying a complex number are provided to simplify the multiplication of the complex number as two redundant binary multiplication by expressing the partial product of the complex binary multiplication as mixing the redundant binary operation and a Booth recording method. CONSTITUTION: The partial product of the complex binary multiplication converts into the redundant binary value system by mixing the Booth recording method and the redundant binary value system replaced with the conventional binary value system. The calculation is carried out by multiplying the redundant binary partial products. The complex number multiplier comprises the registers(13-16) respectively inputting and latching the input data, the redundant binary multipliers(17,18) carrying out the redundant binary multiplication of an actual and imaginary number part from the output of the registers, the value system converters(19,20) converting the result of the redundant binary partial product into the complement value system for 2, and the registers(21,22) latching the output of the value system converters.
