PURPOSE: A device for displaying a straight line through a digital differential analysis algorithm is provided to express a straight line in hardware rapidly and with accuracy by calculating only an initial constant value using a digital differential analysis algorithm and calculating a coordinate of each pixel of a line being connected from a starting point to an end point using the initial constant value. CONSTITUTION: A microprocessor(110) checks a gradient of a straight line to be described. A timing control logic(120) creates a clock signal and a control signal necessary for a system and outputs the signals. An X-coordinate calculating unit(130) calculates an initial constant of an X-coordinate by a digital differential analysis algorithm according to the gradient checked from the microprocessor(110) in accordance with a control of the timing control logic(120) and calculates the remaining X-coordinate using the initial constant. A Y-coordinate calculating unit(140) calculates an initial constant of a Y-coordinate by a digital differential analysis algorithm according to the gradient checked from the microprocessor(110) in accordance with a control of the timing control logic(120) and calculates the remaining Y-coordinate using the initial constant. If all steps are terminated, a step_end unit(150) outputs a step_end signal. A video processor(160) displays a straight line in accordance with coordinates being output from the calculating units(130,140).
