TRACKING PANHEAD AND AUTOMATIC TRACKING START DECISION PART

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tracking panhead in which a tracking mode used to shift a manual tracking operation to an automatic tracking operation can be changed over without a burden on an operator. SOLUTION: A tracking-command-signal generation means is formed by being provided with an operation part 4 used to generate a manual tracking command 104 according to an operation by the operator; an automatic-tracking- command generation part 2 which generates an automatic tracking command 102 in an imaging part 1 in order to automatically track an object as an object to be tracked inside a template region in an image by a television video signal 101; a tracking-command selection part 5 in which one from among both tracking commands according to an automatic tracking start signal 103 is selected as a tracking command signal 105; and an automatic-tracking-start decision part 3. The decision part 3 calculates a movement vector mean length of the signal 101 regarding the template region, and it generates the signal 103 when the time in which the movement vector mean length is a threshold value or less exceeds a prescribed time.
