摘要 <p>PURPOSE: A bearing material for a porous hydrostatic gas bearing and the porous hydrostatic gas bearing thereby are provided to decrease loss of pressure by firmly and integrally joining a porous sintered metal layer to supporting metal made of stainless steel without separation and increasing the porosity of the porous sintered metal layer, and to increase the floating amount of a shaft by compressed gas circulating through the porous sintered metal layer. CONSTITUTION: A bearing material includes supporting metal(2) made of stainless steel, and a porous sintered metal layer(4) integrated with at least one surface of the supporting metal by a bonding layer(3). Particles of an inorganic substance are dispersed and contained at grain boundaries of the porous sintered metal layer. The porous sintered metal layer containing the particles of the inorganic substance are composed of 4 to 10% tin, by weight, 10 to 40% Ni, not less than 0.1 and less than 0.5% phosphorus, and the balance copper.</p>
