<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce emission from a gas turbine combustor. <P>SOLUTION: A mixer assembly 41 for the gas turbine engine combustor 16 includes a premixer 42, an air swirler 60 for guiding into the premixer the flow of fluid passing therethrough, a dome plate 40 extending from the air swirler to the downstream side, and a heat shield 180 extending from at least one of the air swirler and the doom plate to the downstream side. The heat shield includes a downstream side 188 and an upstream side 186.
