PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of avoiding printing time's getting longer because the surface of an intermediate transfer belt 31 is made to circulate by the number of image superposing and transferring times while restraining deviation in the superposition of a multicolor image in a subscanning direction, and avoiding the complication of the constitution of an optical scanning means 20 caused by providing dedicated polygon mirrors 23a for all the processing units respectively. SOLUTION: Optical scanning is performed by using the same polygon mirror 23a for respective photoreceptors (1YC and 1MK) in an adjacently provided pair consisting of two processing units (10YC and 10MK), and the surface of the belt is made to circulate twice so that toner images by the respective processing units may be superposed and transferred every time the belt circulates.
