PURPOSE: A tape supply apparatus and a method of controlling the tape supply apparatus are provided to selectively supply a previously cut automatic supply tape and a manual supply tape to a tape guide. CONSTITUTION: A tape supply apparatus includes a paper aligner, a tape heater, a tape supply unit, and a bound papers transfer unit. The paper aligner aligns papers to be bound. The tape heater binds the papers aligned by the paper aligner. The tape supply unit supplies a tape to the tape heater. The bound papers transfer unit transfers the bound papers to a stacker such that the bound papers are loaded in the stacker. The tape supply unit includes a tape supply part for selectively supplying a manual supply tape and automatic supply tape(132) to the tape heater, a cassette(56) containing the automatic supply tape, and a tape transfer path through which the automatic supply tape contained in the cassette is transferred to the tape supply part.
