A gas discharge protection apparatus for a reciprocating compressor is provided to prevent a collision between a compressor main body and a gas discharge pipe by protecting the gas discharge pipe and limiting shaking of the compressor main body, thereby preventing damage of the gas discharge pipe. A casing(10) contains a compressor main body sucking and discharging refrigerant gas by a mover and a piston combined with each other and reciprocating in a straight line. A gas discharge pipe(DP) is combined with one side of the casing and is connected with a discharge side of the compressor main body by a loop pipe having elasticity so that the gas discharge pipe transmits refrigerant gas discharged from the compressor main body to a refrigerant pipe of a refrigeration cycle apparatus. A stopper housing(110) is fixed at an inner peripheral surface of the casing, covering the gas discharging pipe. The stopper housing is made of a steel plate having predetermined strength.
