PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an implantable electrical lead wire which does not deteriorate a polyurethane sheath material even when the wire contains cobalt, molybdenum, or chromium. SOLUTION: Implantable electrical lead wires 16, such as cobalt-, chromium-, molybdenum-alloy wires, are coated with a metal, ceramic, or carbon to a thickness of about 100 nm or less to provide an inactive interface to polyurethane sheathing materials 36. Preferred is sputter coating an amorphous carbon between the alloy wire and the polyurethane sheath. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
