PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform stereo matching with high accuracy to achieve enhancement of data reliability and reduction of variation. SOLUTION: The resolution is expanded by performing interpolation between pixels to a pair of stereo images picked up by a stereo camera 10, to which input processing is performed by an image input part 20 and stored in an original image memory 25 by a resolution expansion part 30, and the stereo matching is performed by an SAD operation to the image whose resolution is expanded by a stereo matching part 35. Then, the stereo matching with high accuracy is performed to achieve enhancement of the data reliability and reduction of the variation by finding parallax at a subpixel level with high accuracy by performing interpolation processing by thee points as a point of agreement defined by the minimum value of an SAD operation value and adjacent points before and after the agreement point by an interpolation processing part 40.
