PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable continuous production of a flexible liquid crystal display element without using a large vacuum vessel and to reliably remove bubbles from a liquid crystal cell 12. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal is encapsulated between a pair of flexible substrate base materials 11 by using a first sealing member 21 to form a plurality of liquid crystal cells 12 and then the plurality of liquid crystal cells 12 are separated from each other to produce the liquid crystal display element. Only a portion of the pair of substrate base materials 11 is housed in the inside of a vacuum vessel 15 and the liquid crystal cells 12 are formed in the inside of the decompressed vacuum vessel 15.
