1327801 Bearings SKF (UK) Ltd 21 April 1971 [5 May 1970] 21634/70 Heading F2A A rolling thrust bearing comprises two axially-spaced washers 1, 2 with a ring of rolling elements 5 between them and a casing 16 which surrounds the washers and the ring of elements and holds them assembled together, the casing being made at least partly of an elastomeric material so that it is sufficiently flexible and resilient to allow the washers and the rolling elements to be inserted into it. The flange 12 is a tight fit on the washer 1, whilst the flange 13 is in rubbing contact with the washer 2. The elastomeric material may be oil-resisting nitrile rubber having a Shore hardness of 70-80. The casing may be strengthened by a metal or fibrous ring 17, which is fitted or bonded to the inner or outer surface or moulded in. |
