<p>Combined blood withdrawal and re-transfusion appts. is intended for obtaining large quantites of plasma by means of plasmaphaeresis; the blood is removed through is needle implanted in a vein and collected in the recipient which is partly filled with an anticoagulation agent. The recipient is taken out of the system and is centrifuged to separate the plasma from the erythrocytes, w which are retained in the recipient. After washing the latter free from plasma, they are made into a suspension in physiological sodium chloride soln. and transfused back to the patient. While this treatment is in progress, a slow current of sodium chloride soln. is infused into the patient from recipient, through the tube and the drop-counting chamber. The recipient, after the process mentioned above, is attached to the connector of the tube. Sodium chloride is transferred to the recipient to form the suspension of the erythrocytes. The suspension is then infused into the patient. The appts., is simple to handle and has the great advantage that the donor is protected because a blood sample can be taken at any moment through the connector to avoid any confusion of blood groups during the plasmaphaeresis.</p> |
