Suitable components (a) can be obtained by the free radical addition of C 2 to C 18 monocarboxylic acids with olefin mixtures comprising C 20+ alpha-olefins and suitable components (b) can be obtained by the reaction of palmitic and/or stearic acid with azelaic acid and glycerol. The three components can be blended together in the molten state to produce a blend having a melting point of 55-75‹ C. The blends are used in cosmetics such as lipsticks and creams. A cream emulsion comprises 20 g. of the blend, 50 g. of mineral oil, 33À5 g. of water and 1 g. of either borax or triethanolamine. A lipstick comprises 15 g. of the blend, 10 g. carnauba wax, 5 g. lanolin, 5 g. cetyl alcohol, 65 g. castor oil and 2 g. tetrabromofluorescein. An emollient cream comprises 16 g. of the blend, 30 g. mineral oil, 20 g. oil, 33À5 g. glycerol, 1 g. triethanolamine and a cleansing cream comprises 10À8 g. of the blend, 4 g. isostearic acid, 5 g. propylene glycol dipelargonate, 5À8 g. polyethylene glycol monoisostearate, 20 g. oil, 4À5 g. glycerol, 2À0 g. 2-amino-2-methylol-1,3- propanediol, 0À07 g. methyl parahydroxybenzoate, 0À07 g. propyl parahydroxybenzoate and 46À8 g. water. |
