The extendable carriageway marker on sign post for use in mountainous areas subject to snows likely to bury the sign, comprises a hollow base tube (1) into which the post (4) slides telescopically for retraction during summer months and vice-versa. The base unit constitutes two co-axial tubes (1, 2), united via an inclined plate closing the annular gap at the top, and with the inner tube (2) extending for a definitive distance down into the outer tube before terminating in an open end. Support for the post (4) when extended is provided in this top inner tube and pref. takes the form of post pins (5) engaging inclined open elbow slots (6). |
