<p>1473451 Compaction rollers SOUTH AFRICAN INVENTIONS DEVELOPMENT CORP 15 April 1975 [19 April 1974] 15449/75 Heading A1B The bearings 12.1 of a lobed roller 12 are mounted on composite links arranged one on each side of the roller and pivoted at 30.21 to a draw-frame 16, each composite link 30 comprising at least two links 30.2, 30.1 pivoted together at 30.3 and urged by springs into non-parallelism, the roller bearings 12.1 being arcuately displaceable independently about the primary pivot axis 30.21 and the secondary pivot axis 30.3. In Fig. 2, the composite link 30 includes the front link 30.2 pivoted at 30.21 to the frame 16 and at 30.3 to the upper link 30.1 in turn pivoted at 52.1 to a rear auxiliary link 52 which supports the roller bearings 12.1 and which is pivoted at 54 to a further auxiliary link 50 pivoted at 56 to an arm 14 of the frame 16. The pivots 30.21 involve torsion bars extending across the implement to maintain the links in the full-line positions, and stops 42 limit the freedom of movement of the roller 12. The frame 16 has ground wheels 20, and hydraulic rams 36 which may be extended to bear upwardly against abutments (not shown) on the links 50 to raise the roller for transport. In Fig: 1 (not shown), the rear end of the link 30.1 supports the roller bearings 12.1; and the links 52 and 54 are omitted. Further link arrangements are shown in Fig. 3.</p> |
