PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide acetylcellulose having excellent solubility in water, in which the acetylcellulose may give a film or a fiber having high tensile strength even when the acetylcellulose has low degrees of substitution, and to provide a molded article (such as a film, and a fiber) thereof.SOLUTION: Acetylcellulose of the present invention has a total degree of acetyl substitution of 0.4 to 1.1 and a compositional distribution index (CDI) defined as follows of 3.0 or less. CDI=(an actual measured value of compositional distribution half-value width)/(a theoretical value of compositional distribution half-value width). The actual measured value of compositional distribution half-value width is the compositional distribution half-value width determined by performing HPLC analysis of cellulose acetate propionate obtained by thoroughly converting remaining hydroxyl groups of acetyl cellulose (sample) to propionyl groups. In the following expression, DS represents a total degree of acetyl substitution, and DPw represents a weight average degree of polymerization (a value determined by performing GPC-light scattering method of cellulose acetate propionate obtained by thoroughly converting remaining hydroxyl groups of acetyl cellulose (sample) to propionyl groups).SELECTED DRAWING: None |
