PURPOSE:A roll surface is coated with a metallic chromium to provide a roll that transfers zinc-plated band steels without picking up zinc metal from the band steels. CONSTITUTION:A zinc-plated band-steel transferring roll 1 is coated on the surface 2 thereof with metallic chromium 3 in thickness of about 10 to 100 microns. The chromium-coated rolls are advantageously used as pinch rolls to be located just above a zinc soldering bath or as hearth rolls in a continuous heat treatment furnace for soldered band steels, wherein metal pick-up is assuredly prevented to improve the quality of zinc-plated band steel and the like produced thereby. |
