A cartridge for the retention of at least one disc (2) has a cartridge frame (1) in which a centre opening (4) is found as well as a disc holder housing. There are, furthermore, grip and retention units (6a-6d) which are adjustable between a first position, where they secure the disc, together with a second position where they release the disc, whereupon the disc in the disc holder housing can be prevented from leaving this location when the grip and retention unit is in the first position. The disc retained in the disc cartridge can be placed on a disc plate (137) in a disc playback system without being handled manually by the user. Such a playback system involves, besides the disc plates (137), a loading platform (132), a release pin (143), a disc cam (141) which is equipped with cam outlets (142) for each one of the release pins, as well as an adjustable gear in a vertical joint (147) which engages with an adjustment switch (148). When the disc cartridge is placed on the loading platform (132), the release pin in the respective cam outlets is moved when the disc cam is rotating, whereupon the release pin is engaged with the respective grip and retention units (6a-6d) and moves these to the second position where they release the disc and allow this to be placed on the disc plate (137). When required, the loading platform (132) can be swung upward with the help of the adjustable gear (147), which is in a vertical aspect when the adjustable switch (148) is moved, whereby, either the cartridge is moved away from the disc and allows a pick up (146) or, the disc plate (137) is allowed to move in the disc's radial direction for the playing of the disc on the disc plate.<IMAGE> |
