The volumetric amount of contents of a construction site container to be pneumatically filled is ascertained to prevent overfilling, esp when vehicle-mounted. It stands on the ground by means of an upright frame. At one side of the latter, the container is hoisted and weighed but remains supported on the ground on the opposite side of the frame. The side from which the container is supported or lifted can be different from that where it is filled. A hoist can be supported on the ground and have gripping means for the container supporting frame as well as a measuring instrument for the lifting force used. This instrument can have a switching contact releasing a signal for stopping the filling process. The hoist can use a lifting jack whose cylinder is provided with a manometer.
