<p>A method of repairing deformities around the opening in the top of a bottle top mould and simultaneously forming an upstanding ring on the mould by locating outer shuttering on the top of the mould, locating inner shuttering within the opening and extending through it into engagement with the mould, and extending upwardly above the mould, the outer shuttering spaced radially outwardly from the inner shuttering with the deformities located in the space between the inner and outer shuttering, placing a crucible above the mould, placing a fusible metal powder composition in the crucible, fusing the metal powder causing it to become molten, pouring the molten metal downwardly into the space between the inner and outer shuttering, the molten metal flowing over the deformities and simultaneously forming an upstanding ring between the inner and outer shuttering the molten metal being at a temperature such that it becomes welded in place to the top of the mould, and, removing the shuttering when the molten metal has cooled. Also disclosed is a bottle top mould for molten metal having a hollow mould body portion formed of weldable metal, an opening in the top of the body portion through which molten metal may be poured, and, a ring of weld metal welded to the top of the mould around the opening and extending upwardly therefrom.</p> |
