PURPOSE:To stabilize slag easily in a short time by removing slag in steel making then immersing the slag in hot water or hot sea water for a suitable period to accelerate the hydration of the free lime contents and others in the slag. CONSTITUTION:After slag in steel making is removed, it is immersed in hot water or hot sea water of >=60 deg.C for >=8hrs and <7 days, whereby the hydration of the free lime in the slag is accelerated and the slag is stabilized to about <=0.6% coefft. of expansion when immersed in water. This treated slag can be shipped and used after it is dried. To increase the coefft. of expansion further or to make it zero, only the fine powder portion or the whole slag is separately heated so that it is statilized simultaneously with drying, after the above-described stabilization with hot water or hot sea water. |
