NEW MATERIAL:A neutral polysaccharide[comprising alpha-(1 4)-glucan as a main chain, containing beta-(1 3)-fucose in the main chain, having alpha-(1 6)arabinose as a branched chain; glucose:arabinose:fucose=5:2:1; soluble in water, insoluble in organic solvents such as methanol, etc.; color reaction: positive in phenol sulfuric acid reaction, etc., colored in bluish green by the addition of iodine; molecular weight: 21,000; specific rotary power:[alpha]<22>D:-46 deg.(C=0.28, H2O); color and shape: lyophilized product fractionating is white powder]. USE:A remedy for cancers. PROCESS:An extracted solution of bark of Malia azadirachta with hot water is subjected to fractional sieve treatment[gel filtration (e.g., a gel filtration agent such as dextran, etc. is used)].
