A process for the production of diecast parts, and an apparatus for performing this process, are described. In this new process, the metering of the melt for the component to be cast and the production of pressure for the injection of this melt are completely uncoupled from each other in time. A mould unit is developed which can be handled separately as a closed mounting unit with pre-metered melt already contained therein, because the mould unit is heavily heat-insulated towards the outside. Either the whole mould unit or the melt alone is then exposed to pressure, the melt being expelled into the casting mould. Preferably the mould unit is fitted with ceramic components which, owing to their great temperature resistance, their large and variable heat capacity and their very low thermal conductivity, enable very high-melting materials to be cast. It is possible with the described process or with the described apparatuses to cast different, very high-melting materials in direct succession without changeover times and in a cost-effective manner, and the shape of the part to be diecast can also vary within wide limits on successive shots.
