The invention relates to an underwater module for producing electrical energy, of the type comprising a caisson (1) containing means forming a nuclear reactor (2). The invention is characterised in that the caisson (1) is embodied as a double-walled caisson, an inner wall (3) thereof forming an enclosure for the containment of the means forming a nuclear reactor (2), an outer wall thereof (4) communicating with the environment (5) in a heat-transferring manner and forming a protective barrier in relation to said environment, and the volume between the two walls comprising means forming a water tank (7) representing a heat sink for the means forming a reactor.
