INSULATION SYSTEM

A method and apparatus for directing a stream (15) of bulk fibers while simultaneously spraying an inorganic temperature resistant tacky binder material into the stream (15) of fibers. A layer of high temperature insulating fibers may thus be formed. The binder may be a phosphate tackifying agent mixture or a colloidal suspension of materials with the tackifying agent. The takifying agent is preferably montmorillonite clay. Spray gun (14) is employed to direct the refractory fiber stream (24) through conduit (23) so as to emerge from an annular path defined by deflector body (25) and manifold (26).
