PURPOSE:To make possible the sepn. and analysis of many org. acids with good sensitivity with a piece of column by using an eluate contg. acids to convey an org. acid-contg. sample, separating the org. acids with a sepn. column and mixing an aq. alkali soln. with the eluate then detecting the electrical conductivity thereof with a conductivity detector. CONSTITUTION:The org. acid-contg. sample is put into a sample injecting device 2 and an aq. soln. of a strong inorg. acid such as hydrochloric acid or nitric acid is fed as the eluate by a pump 1 and is passed through the sepn. column 3 in which a cation exchange resin is packed. The aq. alkaline soln. such as NaOH is mixed with the separated org. acid-contg. liquid from a pump 4 and after the pH thereof is adjusted, the conductivity is measured with the conductivity detector 6. The eluate emitted from the column 3 is passed through a cation exchange tube 14 as shown in the figure and the tube 14 is brought into contact with the aq. alkali soln. 15 so that the H<+> in the eluate is exchanged with the cation in the soln. 15. The soln. is thereafter fed to the detector 6. The simultaneous analysis of the many org. acids with high sensitivity with a piece of the column 3 is thus made possible. |
