PURPOSE:To obtain a polycyclodextrin in the form of uniform-sized beads, by reacting a specified cyclodextrin in the form of a dispersion in an aqueous solution of a polycarboxylate. CONSTITUTION:A cyclodextrin whose molecular weight is previously increased with epichlorohydrin to such a degree as not to be insolubilized is dispersed in an aqueous solution of a polycarboxylate and reacted to form an insoluble polymer. In this way, the purpose beads are obtained. The cyclodextrin is kept in a state in which it is not insolubilized by limiting the amount of the epichlorohydrin previously added thereto. This is dispersed in an aqueous solution of a polycarboxylate as a dispersing medium. To this dispersion the remaining portion of the epichlorohydrin is added and the reaction is completed. Further, by finally carrying out conversion into an insoluble polymer, the purpose beads can be obtained more easily under gentler operating conditions.
