A container 14 filled with playing pieces 7 for receiving a plurality of playing pieces of different types has a square base surface 1. The edge lengths 2 and 4 of the base surface 1 are so dimensioned that 64 cuboid playing pieces 7, with a likewise square base surface 9, can be arranged thereon, standing on end, in a plurality of rows along at least one of the two edges 2 and 4 of the base surface 1, completely filling the length thereof, while leaving a vacant space 12 on the base surface 1. The prismatic playing pieces have a basic ratio of length 8 to width 10 to height 11 of 3:3:2. Per row, there are 12 playing pieces 7 arranged along one edge 4 of the base surface 1 and eight playing pieces 7 along the other edge 2. The receiving space for the playing pieces 7 is formed from two containers 14 of identical size which can be separated from each other. The container 14 has a border 3.
