PURPOSE:To maintain an optical shutter array at a required temperature by forming heat sinks on proper positions of the optical shutter array which are not on an optical path and does not interrupt the supply of an electric signal. CONSTITUTION:The optical shutter array 6 consists of a laminated body obtained by combining a polarizer 33 on the light incident side, a PLZT crystal 34 and an analyzer 38 on the light projecting side and counter electrodes 35, 36 are stuck to the crystal 34 so as to form respective pixels. The heat sinks 40 are mounted to the back side of the crystal 34 on the proper positions other than the optical path of the array 6. Even if temperature is changed, the array 6 can be kept at the required temperature by a heat diffusing effect and its characteristics can be effectively maintained.
