PURPOSE:To enable a remaining oil in a cartridge tank to be detected by a method wherein an electric energy is applied while a remaining oil sensor is being contacted with a side surface of the cartridge tank, a heat applied by a heating source is transmit ted to a side surface of the tank and at the same time the temperature of each of the side surfaces is detected by a temperature sensor and each of the detected temperatures is compared to each other. CONSTITUTION:Under a condition where a lid 12 is closed, a metallic plate 10c of a plurality of remaining oil sensors 10 supported by a supporting member 11 is contacted with one side surface of a tank. And by controlling a one chip microcom puter (CPU)13, the heating source 10b of each of the sensors 10 is operated for a specified time every time a desired time is elapsed. At this time, heat of the heating source 10b is transmitted to one side surface of the tank 1 through a metallic plate 10c contacted to each of the sensors. In this case, since oil in the tank 1 is filled up to a point near the lowest sensor 101, the sensor 101 placed at the lowermost part may detect heat at the side surface transmitted by its heating source 10b in the most delayed state, and a temperature sensor 10a for the other sensors 102, 103 and 104 may detect it under a fast speed. Then, a microcomputer 13 may compare a detected temperature of each of the sensors 10 in response to these detected signals, and calcu late a position of the remaining oil and display it with a display device 20.
