2-(2',4'-dihydroxyphenyl)-4,6-diaryl-s-triazines of the formula (1) given in Claim 1 are prepared by reacting, in a first step, a compound of the formula (4) given in Claim 1 with a substituted benzene of the formula (5) given in Claim 1 by means of a Lewis acid in the presence of xylene or toluene, reacting, in a second step, the compound obtained of the formula (2) given in Claim 1 with chlorine or sulphuryl chloride in the presence of toluene or xylene to give the compound of the formula (3) given in Claim 1 and reacting, in a third step, the compound obtained with 1,3-dihydroxybenzene by means of a Lewis acid to give the compound of the formula (1) in the presence of toluene, xylene or mixtures of xylene isomers. |
