PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selecting mold powder for continuous casting, which enables the continuous casting to be more stably operated by enabling a reduction in the occurrence of misdetection caused by a system for predicting a breakout, and a cast piece manufacturing method using the same.SOLUTION: Mold powder for being charged into a mold 1 during continuous casting is changed, and the amount of fluctuation in temperature measured by a plurality of temperature sensors 5 embedded in the mold 1 is acquired for each mold powder.
