The book-end is held on a shelf with parallel upper and lower panels, and has a prismatic shape with a rectangular base. Its lower surface (64) rests on the lower panel while its lateral surface (68), perpendicular to the panel, supports the books. The height of the lateral surface of the book-end is less than the distance between the panels. This play allows it to slide between the planes. The edges (622,642,648) between the lateral and upper and lower surfaces are chamfered and these stop the book-end sliding when it rocks. |
