PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To switch control from the 1st server to the 2nd server in a fault- tolerant system, by disabling a communication between the 1st server and an extension bus when a display shows that the 1st server is inactive. SOLUTION: To improve the fault tolerance of a network 5, two servers, i.e., a primary server 10A and a backup server 10B which are both connected to the network 5 are used. Then the standby server 10B once detecting a heat beat message from the main server 10A disappearing through a serial cable 1320 sets a fault control bit of a standby bridge chip 48B and a fail-over recovery block asserts a signal FAILOVER- so as to operate a standby bridge chip 48B and disable a main bridge 48A, thereby taking over the control of a downstream PIC bus 32. |
