The invention relates to a method for recovering and/or removing organic compounds from gas streams. Said method comprises the following steps: removal of the organic compounds from the gas stream by means of an adsorbent and desorption of the organic compounds from the adsorbent with the aid of microwaves. The adsorbent is a finely dispersed mixture of hydrophilic and hydrophobic adsorbents.
