A power switch includes a switch-shaft (11) for the closing and opening of the switch contacts (3), a swivel-mounted contact carrier (5), at least one contact force spring (19) supported between the contact (3) and carrier (5), and a multiple member lever system (12) for joining the switch shaft (11) to the contact carrier (5). The support device comprises of a slide-link lever (16) and a coupling bolt (24) belonging to the lever system (12) and gripping into the slide-link (20), which includes a first section (21) and a second section (22) at an angle to the first section, and of which the first section (21) receives the coupling bolt (24) during opening and closing of the switch contact (3). The second section (22) serves as a slide-path for the coupling bolt (24), and has a length that the contact (3) can be moved over into its open position when a threshold value is exceeded during force transmission. The slide-link lever (16) is designed as an abutment of the contact force spring (19).
