PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fender promoting durability of a synthetic resin layer in the rubber fender having the synthetic resin layer with coefficient of friction smaller than rubber on the surface of a head coming into contact with a ship. SOLUTION: A fender has such a structure as the buckling of the head part thereof is not made before the buckling of a part other than the head part is made when the head is brought into contact with a ship. The fender, for example, has a bending point on the surface in a distance equivalent to over 1/6 of the height of the fender from the top thereof, and in a relation between a sectional width B1 parallel to the top surface in the bending point and the top width B, B1 has such a structure as it is less than 1.3 B.
