PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a picture element from being seen in the form of a picture elementunit in the horizontal direction even when it is diverted to a white/black image display device in the construction of removing a color filter, for example prevent a sense of incongruity from generating in the case of medical diagnosis, by making the picture element density in the vertical direction of a displayed image higher than the picture element in the horizontal direction. SOLUTION: A color liquid crystal monitor is constituted by having a display image plane 10 and an image data conversion part 12. The display image plane 10 is constituted so that the ratio of the picture element density in the vertical direction (A-direction) to the picture element density in the horizontal direction (B-direction) is set 3, accordingly, the ratio of the picture element width (a) to the picture element width (b) is set 1/3, and a R-picture element, a G-picture element, and a B-picture element in the case of using a color filter are arranged in the longitudinal direction. Hereby even if it is diverted to a white/black image display device, picture elements corresponding to R, G, and B-picture elements is not seen in the form of a picture element unit in the horizontal direction.
