PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device and a paper carrying method in the image forming device capable of suppressing unevenness in the carrying number of recording papers per unit time, and forming an image at a high speed. SOLUTION: In this image forming device, a paper carrier path is provided with a first recording paper waiting position 33 for waiting timing for carrying the recording paper to an image forming part, and a second recording paper waiting position 101 for making the succeeding recording paper wait on the paper carrier path when the preceding recording paper is present in the first waiting position 33. The succeeding recording paper waiting in the second waiting position 101 is controlled such that carriage processing from the second waiting position 101 is started again in the timing wherein a required distance between the succeeding recording paper and the preceding recording paper carried again to the image forming part from the first waiting position 33 is obtained.
