PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To take effective measures against noisy vibrations generated by an equipment by accurately detecting the magnitude of rotational vibrations due to the unbalance of a disk without adding a separate circuit such as a vibration sensor, etc. SOLUTION: This method includes a 1st stage where the number of traverse signals is counted at a low rotating speed of a recording medium, a 2nd stage where the number of traverse signals is counted at a high rotating speed of the disk after the 1st stage, a 3rd stage where the difference between the numbers of the traverse signals counted at the 1st and 2nd stages is calculated, and a 4th stage where the magnitude of rotational vibration is converted by using the difference in the number of the traverse signals calculated in the 3rd stage.
