PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an overload on a carrying roller pair and a motor in a downstream side, when the carrying roller pair in the downstream side pulling and drawing out recording paper while rotating the carrying roller pair. SOLUTION: The recording paper carrying device comprises plural carrying roller pairs arrayed to carry recording paper, a motor rotating a carrying roller of the carrying roller pair, and an one-way clutch 14 provided between a carrying roller 5 of a carrying roller pair in the upstream side of the plural carrying roller pairs and the motor to transmit rotation force from the motor to the carrying roller 5 of the carrying roller pair in the upstream side and interrupt rotation transmission from the carrying roller 5 of the carrying roller pair in the upstream side to the motor. The roller 5 of the carrying roller pair has a roller shaft 15 and a cylindrical roller portion 23 provided on the roller shaft so as to freely rotate, and the roller portion interlocks with the oneway clutch.
