PURPOSE: A pad assembly of a caliper brake is provided to prevent displacement of shim against side shearing force by riveting the shim with forming a groove in a backing plate, and to improve endurance by thickening the shim. CONSTITUTION: A pad assembly for a caliper brake is composed of a backing plate(34) attached to a brake pad(32), and shim combined with the backing plate. A shim fitting groove(40) is formed at the side of the backing plate for assembling with a rivet protrusion(38) with inserting the shim, and the shim is thickened. The rivet protrusion is formed in the shim fitting groove, and a fitting hole is formed in the shim. The shim is inserted to the shim fitting groove, and the rivet protrusion is inserted to the fitting hole of the shim. Slip or displacement is prevented with fixing the shim in the backing plate firmly by riveting.
