PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a silane coupling agent treated calcium carbonate excellent in a bonding property for the silane coupling agent and producible in an easier process and to obtain a polymer composition in which the calcium carbonate has been blended. SOLUTION: A calcium carbonate with a calcium hydroxide layer on the surface prepared by calcining the surface of calcium carbonate powder to form a calcium oxide layer on the surface and then hydrating the calcium oxide layer is surface-treated with 0.01-10 pts.wt. silane coupling agent based on 100 pts.wt. calcium carbonate.
