PURPOSE: A head rest is provided to support a head by tilting forward immediately in an emergent situation like a rear-end collision as well as to adjust a tilting angle at driver's convenience and to watch a screen on a rear side of the head rest by adjusting the tilting angle separately. CONSTITUTION: Support plates(40,40') are connected to a horizontal portion(31) of a stay(30). A motor is installed to an external surface of one support plate. The other end of a driving shaft(21) of the motor is combined to an axial hole of a receiving portion(42) formed to the other support plate. A core(22) is installed to the driving shaft and received to the receiving portion. An outer edge of the core is divided by an isolation portion. A first torsion spring is mounted to an outer portion of a space portion between an outer peripheral surface of the core and an inner peripheral surface of the receiving portion. The first torsion spring is folded in narrower space than a space between both ends. A second torsion spring is mounted to an inner portion of the space portion folded narrower than the space between both ends of the first torsion spring. First and second torsion springs are in a same line. A hinging piece(61) has a hanging groove to be narrower than both ends of the first torsion spring. An outer end of the second torsion spring is hung to the hanging groove. A pinion(62) is installed to a motor member extended to an outer side horizontally form an outer edge. The motor member is combined to an inner surface of the core. A gear(70) is installed to the horizontal portion of the stay meshed to the pinion. Thereby, the arm rest is adjusted by a hand normally and returned automatically in an emergency.
