PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modified polyester composition which has a high water- absorbing property, a high moisture-absorbing property, and a good hue. SOLUTION: This method for producing the modified polyester composition, comprising copolymerizing a polyester containing tetramethylene terephthalate units as main repeating units with a polyalkylene ether glycol and an organic sulfonic acid metal salt, is characterized by using the reaction product of a specific titanium compound component with a phosphorus compound component as a polycondensation catalyst for the modified polyester composition.
