PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost patent information retrieval system capable of accessing a large amount of patent information. SOLUTION: This patent information retrieval system comprises a server 12 and a plurality of clients 13 connected to the server 12 via an intranet 11 and can be constructed on a network. The system is provided with a bibliographic information database 30 stored in the server 12, executes retrieval by using the database 30 in response to input of bibliographic information from the client 13, and obtains data required for display of a gazette from an external server 21 located outside the intranet 11 in response to a request of the display of the gazette from the client 13. Thus, the gazette having a large amount of data is obtained from the external server located outside the intranet, so that the system can be constructed at a low cost. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
