PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize file management, which can easily recover referring relations, even if a path name is changed when a file is referred to using the path name. SOLUTION: A recording/reproduction apparatus manages information, which is a target to be recorded or reproduced, as a file using file system information that has a directory hierarchical structure referable using path names, and manages the directory and the file using contents management information including object management information referred to by object referring information on the path names. When information stored in the recording medium is updated by the record/reproduction part, the recording/reproduction apparatus records information on the update (e.g., unique ID) for both of the file system information and the object management information.
