PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball end mill which obtains good round accuracy and good machining accuracy by improving sphericity of the rotation locus of the ball edge. SOLUTION: In the ball end mill having a plurality of ball edges at the tip of the end mill, the relief angle of the ball end mill has the feature wherein the near of the shaft center part of the end mill is smaller than the near of the outer peripheral part. The manufacturing method of the ball end mill is characterized in that the relief angle of the ball edge is changed from the ball edge of the ball end mill toward the shaft center part of the end mill, the relief angle of the near the shaft center part of the end mill is set to be 5°or less, and the grinding machining of the relief angle of the ball edge is ground by turning the grinding wheel around over the shaft center part.
