PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize fault diagnosis of a television camera apparatus with which a factor of a fault can be speedily analyzed when abnormality occurs. SOLUTION: A fault diagnosis of a television camera apparatus is divided into a plurality of processes, and when the result of the fault diagnosis in each fault diagnosing process is diagnosed as abnormal, the fault diagnosis of the next process is not executed. A CPU is provided in each of a camera head and a camera control unit, and each CPU is a fault diagnostic system capable of independently executing the fault diagnosis and transmitting the result of the fault diagnosis to the other CPU. If there is abnormality in the result of the fault diagnosis, a user of the apparatus can know contents of the abnormality sequentially from fundamental abnormality, thereby speedily analyzing the factor of the fault of the apparatus.
